Versele-Laga developed 2 products based
on L-Carnitine :

1) The liquid preparation CARMINE is indicated for group
treatment and is administered via the drinking water or one food.
2) BIO-CARNI is in tablet form for individual treatment of the pigeons.

Because CARMINE and BIO-CARNI contain all the vitamins and amino acids in the right proportions, they are an optimal supplement during the racing season.

CARMINE and BIO-CARNI are best when combined with a diet rich in fats. Therefore Energy -Corn can be added to the grain
mixture.

WHAT DID THE EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES
DEMONSTRATE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GHENT ?
 
 
In the laboratories for animal nutrition of the State University of Ghent, the influence of CARNITINE on the performance capacity of the pigeon was examined. The breast muscle of trained pigeons who had received CARNITINE for 7 days was electrically stimulated whereby the muscular activity accomplished was comparable to that of long distance races. In cases where CARNITINE had been Administered, the following effects were observed :
1. Lower fatty acid percentages in the blood, this due to the stimulating effect of CARNITINE on the fat metabolism .
2. Lower lastic acid percentages in the blood.
Lactic acid is a breakdown product of the anaerobic carbohydrate metabolism and causes muscular fatigue and cramps.
3. Decrease of muscular breakdown.
Creatinephoshkinase (CPK) is an enzyme which enters the blood through muscular breakdown. The pigeons having received CARNITINE clearly showed lower percentages of CPK
